Meter Provida to Provide Essential Meter Recycling Service for Scottish Power Customers
ScottishPower has chosen metering specialist Meter Provida to deal with the triaging of ‘as new’ meters and the recycling of old ones.
This contract win marks another milestone in Meter Provida’s recent growth, which has seen its workforce expand fourfold in the last three years.
ScottishPower supplies energy to 5 million households and businesses across the UK and is currently part of the smart meter rollout, aiming to provide a new meter to all of its customers by 2020.
Proper disposal of legacy meters is vital for ensuring the smart meter rollout meets Government targets on emissions, as well as guaranteeing those who own legacy meters are properly recompensed.
Stephen Burr, Managing Director of Meter Provida, said:
“This is an important step in the expansion of Meter Provida’s work by offering an end-to-end service – providing reverse logistics and recycling of old meters to support ScottishPower in delivering their smart meter rollout.
“We are delighted to be working closely with ScottishPower to support their delivery of the smart meter roll out.”
Andrew Ward, Smart Director of ScottishPower, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Meter Provida to support us in collecting and examining our removed meters. Where possible Meter Provida will recycle existing meters in an environmentally friendly way. This is an often overlooked part of the smart meter rollout.”
